SCSTV Video - Questions and Answers

When I load the page, I see the player, but, no video appears, what's wrong?

In order to view our video clips, you must have a version of Real Player installed on your computer. This may be obtained as a free download from the Real website.  If you have Real Player and still experience difficulties, you may need to install a later version.

What sort of Internet connection do I need?

A broadband connection (DSL / Cable) of at least 384K.

What kind of computer do I need to view the videos?

You need a system that meets the minimum requirements for Real Player:

Minimum System Requirements

350MHz Intel Pentium II processor or equivalent
64MB of RAM (128MB on Windows XP or later)
65,000-color video display card set to display at 800x600 (video)
16-bit sound card and speakers
Operating System (OS):
Microsoft Windows 98 SE , Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP

The video pauses regularly for Buffering. What causes that?

These pauses are normally caused by Internet congestion. If you experience chronic performance problems and other difficulties when browsing sites, your Internet Service Provider should be able to help you determine if the problem is with your service or equipment.

Are council meetings available for viewing at a later time?

No. Due to the length of the meetings and bandwidth restrictions, they can only be streamed, live. If you miss a meeting and would like to view it later, you may view it on cable according to this schedule, provided by our Communications Department, or check out a video from the library.
